8.0 The Memo Pad function has been provided to act as it's name implies, a MEMO PAD.

When you first start the RAP Manager program a small prompt window appears below the password control box that reminds you to check the memo pad for any relevant notes or tasks for today.

The short Quick Note section can also be used to store telephone numbers and names with fast find access at the touch of a key...

The Memo Pad function is located on the first menu level when the RAP Manager has been started.

View the Memo Pad by selecting the menu option using the Up/Down arrow keys or the associated "Hot" key "M" from the main menu.

The most recent Memo is displayed on the screen along with the maintenance functions for the Memo Pad.

The functions for using the Memo pad are located at the bottom of the screen and are:

• Change
• Enter
• Browse
• Index
• Find
• Tools
• A. Print record
• B. Locate information
• C. Query-by-form
• D. Delete this record
• E. Pack Database
• F. Update Indexes

1. UP/DN - Use the arrow keys to move backwards and forwards through the Memo Pad records.

2. Change - Changes cursor to edit mode where you can change any information contained on a saved memo.

3. Enter - Enter a new Memo record by pressing "E' and a blank memo will be displayed with the cursor waiting at the :

• ENTRY DATE . The default date is today but you can change this if you wish. press enter to go to the next field.
• QUICK NOTE : Enter up to 120 characters as a heading for this memo.
• NOTE PAD : Press [ALT-M] to show the memo pad page. The memo page is a simple text editor for you to enter any information, tasks, instructions, reminders etc. You can import and export Memo pages to and from ASCII text files and the clip board if you wish. When you have entered the detail you wish press [F10] to save it.

When the record is saved only the first 10 lines of the memo are displayed on the memo page. Press [ALT-M] to view or edit the whole memo.

4. Browse - Shows all memo entries in tabular format with up to 20 records per screen which can be navigated through using the UP/DN arrow keys or the Index and Find options. Menu functions for browse mode are also located at the bottom of the screen.

5. Index - Use the index option to display the memo pad entry's by the desired index.

6. Find - The find option does a quick index search for the desired record according to the current index.

7. Tools - The tools function is a pop-up menu of utilities associated with the Memo Pad and includes:

• A. Print record - prints the current record to printer , screen or file.
• B. Locate information - Does a speed search through each record for any phrase, sentence or word in the Memo database and stops at each record where the, phrase, sentence or word has been found.
• C. Allows you to do a Query-by-form search of the Memo pad.
• D. Delete this record - deletes the current record
• E. Pack database - permanently removes deleted records from the database
• F. Update indexes - Updates indexes associated with Memo Pad.
